Who is Bryan Kaviiri, and how did that name come about?

My real name is Brian Muwanguzi, but I’m popularly known as Bryan Kaviiri. “Kaviiri” represents a blend of all hairstyles—because I don’t just do one thing. I’m not just a barber; I bring the full package. I specialize in every kind of haircut, which is where the name comes from.

What inspired you to become a barber?

A big shoutout to Martbarber—he’s been a huge influence on my journey in this industry.

What challenges have you faced in your barbering career?

The competition is extremely tough these days—almost everyone wants to become a barber now. Also, the rising costs of products and equipment are a major challenge.

And the positives?

This career has allowed me to support my family—my mom and siblings—and it’s opened doors to meet influential people both in Uganda and internationally.

How long have you been in the industry?

Professionally, I’ve been barbering for 8 years now.

What motivates you to give your best every day?

Honestly, it’s the reactions from my clients. Seeing that smile after a haircut—it pushes me to go even further.

How do you stay updated with the latest barbering trends and techniques?

I do a lot of research. I’m always learning and staying current with new styles and techniques in the industry.

Which public figures have you worked with?

I’ve worked with quite a few, including Kasuku, Vyper Ranking, Slick Stuart & DJ Roja, Fem DJ, DJ Denzel, Bennie Gunter, the Uganda Cranes team, Shakib Champ, and even members of the Algerian national team, among many others.

Has social media had an impact on your career?

Absolutely. Social media has been a game-changer. It’s helped me network with people from all walks of life and allowed me to build a strong personal brand by showcasing my skills, experience, and personality. It also keeps me informed on industry trends and facilitates communication with clients, my team, and partners.

How do you ensure every client has a positive experience?

I take a unique and thoughtful approach with each client. I listen, understand their expectations, and tailor the experience to suit them personally.

How do you handle difficult customers?

In this business, the customer is always the boss. I listen to their concerns, respect their opinions, and then offer expert advice to help them look their best.

Have you mentored any upcoming barbers?

Yes, I have. I believe in leading by example. I mentor junior barbers by showing them what it truly takes to master the craft—through both hands-on training and mindset development.

Have you ever faced criticism? How did you deal with it?

Definitely. There were times when people doubted my abilities. But that criticism motivated me to push harder and practice more. I used it as fuel to sharpen my skills and prove myself.

How do you handle an unhappy client?

Honestly, I haven’t had that happen yet. Before starting any haircut, I sit down with the client to discuss their desired look and make sure we’re on the same page. So far, the results have always been well received.

How do you maintain hygiene and cleanliness in your work?

Cleanliness is everything in this business. I use sterilizer machines to keep my tools, especially clippers, clean and ready for every client.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

In five years, I aim to be at the very top of this industry. I’m already putting strategies in place to keep the business growing—adapting to trends, mentoring more people, and raising awareness about barbering as a respected profession. I want to make this craft a household name in Uganda.

Bryan Kaviiri isn’t just a barber—he’s a movement. Through skill, passion, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, he’s not only transforming looks but also lives, one haircut at a time.
